Community Access and Empowerment Employee Handbook
Introduction
Welcome to Community Access and Empowerment! Our mission is to prepare Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals and adults thrive in communication, career, and life. This handbook provides guidelines and policies to ensure compliance with California state and federal laws while fostering a positive workplace.
Employment Policies

At-Will Employment
Employment at Community Access and Empowerment is at-will, meaning either the employee or the organization may terminate employment at any time, with or without cause.
Hiring Process
Job postings will be publicly advertised and include clear descriptions and requirements.
All candidates must complete an application and provide necessary documentation.
Background checks and reference verification will be conducted as needed.
Onboarding Process
New hires will receive an orientation covering organizational policies, benefits, and job expectations.

Community Access and Empowerment  maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on harassment and discrimination. Employees should report any concerns to HR or a designated compliance officer.
Complaint and Grievance Process
Employees may report concerns confidentially to HR or their supervisor.
A formal investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken.
Retaliation against employees who report grievances is strictly prohibited.
Compensation and Benefits
Employees will receive a fair and competitive wage consistent with California wage laws.
Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, and retirement contributions (as applicable).
Payroll will be processed in compliance with state and federal tax regulations.
Work Hours and Leave Policies
Standard working hours are 8 am-6 pm, with flexible arrangements considered as needed.

Separation and Termination
Employees resigning should provide a 2 weeks notice period.
Terminations will be handled in accordance with California labor laws, including final paycheck distribution.
